A New Way to Think About Clinical Complexity
Discover the science, clinical framework, and practical training behind the Microbiome Clinical Science Certificate.
Where complex cases stall
Practitioners working in functional and integrative health have access to more information than ever: more research, more conferences, more protocols, more frameworks. And yet most clinicians, even experienced ones, still run into the same wall. Complex cases that don't resolve. Patients who improve and then regress. Symptom patterns that don't match the labs. Protocols that work for one patient and fail for the next.
The gap is usually a missing system, not missing knowledge.
The microbiome isn't a topic that gets added onto an existing approach. It's the regulatory layer underneath the systems most clinicians are already trying to address: immune function, inflammation, hormones, metabolism, and gut-brain signaling. Without a framework for working with that layer directly, even excellent clinical reasoning can stall on the patients who need it most.
MCSC is built to close that gap.
A terrain-based clinical framework
Most clinical training, even at advanced levels, teaches practitioners to ask: what do I give for this presentation?
That question has a ceiling. It works for straightforward cases and breaks down on complex, multi-system, reactive ones, which is where most practitioners are spending their time.
That's the shift MCSC teaches. MCSC is a way of thinking about the body rather than a protocol library: terrain-based, mechanism-first, and sequenced to the patient in front of you rather than the diagnosis on paper.
The question that scales is different: what system is disrupted, and how do I support it?
Understanding the science changes how you see the patient.
Now, discover the competencies that bring it into clinical practice.
What MCSC teaches
A clinical framework built over two decades of research, formulation, and practitioner education.
Microbiome mechanisms
How microbial ecosystems regulate immune tone, metabolic function, hormonal signaling, and the gut-brain axis, at a level of detail most practitioners don't get in their existing training.
Gut barrier and systemic impact
How the mucin layer, epithelial barrier, and mucosal immunity actually work, what causes them to break down, and why barrier loss drives multi-system patterns instead of staying contained to digestion.
Endotoxemia and chronic dysfunction
LPS, immune tolerance, the HPA axis, and the cascade that connects gut barrier dysfunction to fatigue, neuroinflammation, mood patterns, and hormonal disruption. Once that cascade is clear, cases that used to look unrelated start to read as one pattern.
Clinical pattern recognition
How to read multi-system presentations and find the upstream factors driving them, instead of treating each symptom as its own problem.
Sequencing care
How to layer interventions based on patient capacity, sensitivity, and resilience, rather than running every patient through the same protocol.
Functional lab interpretation
How to read stool, blood, and other markers through a terrain-based lens, and what to actually do with the results.
Patient communication
How to explain complex mechanisms in plain language that supports understanding and adherence.
Curriculum: 11 core modules across 4 phases
Modules build on one another and are completed in order.
Foundations of Terrain Thinking
- The microbiome as a regulator.
- Leaky gut and endotoxemia as ground zero for chronic dysfunction.
- Mucosal immunity, immune tolerance, and reactivity.
- Clinical recognition and sequenced repair of barrier dysfunction.
The Digestive Terrain
- Brain-to-stomach signaling, vagal tone, and upper digestive function.
- Bile, pancreatic enzymes, motility, and the small intestine.
- SIBO, colon function, and gut-liver dynamics.
Specialty Deep Dives
- The gut-immune axis.
- The gut-brain axis, neuroinflammation, and resilience.
- Hormones, metabolism, and the microbiome.
Clinical Application
- Bonus Practitioner Toolkit: testing, nutrition, and translating the framework into personalized care plans.
More than a curriculum. An entire ecosystem for clinical growth.
The education, tools, and professional community to support your learning beyond the modules.

Kiran Krishnan
Kiran is a research microbiologist with over two decades studying the human microbiome. He has run human clinical trials, published research, and taught tens of thousands of practitioners globally. He is a former Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer at Microbiome Labs, and he helped shape how the microbiome is understood in modern integrative medicine.
His teaching is mechanistic and direct. He names what's happening, walks through why it's happening, and trusts practitioners to apply the framework in their own clinical context.
For years, practitioners have been asking him when he would put the entire system in one place. MCSC is that program.
Enroll in MCSCWho the MCSC program is for
MCSC is built for licensed and certified health professionals actively working with patients who want a microbiome-centered, terrain-based framework in their practice.
Experienced clinicians
For experienced clinicians, MCSC layers a strategic framework over the expertise they already have, making complex, multi-system cases easier to sequence and navigate.
Earlier-career practitioners
For practitioners earlier in their careers, it provides the clinical structure that usually takes years of trial and error to build.
MCSC is professional education licensed for single-practitioner clinical use. It is not a consumer program and may not be resold or shared.
Enrollment
Includes lifetime access to all core content plus every bonus listed above. Single-practitioner license. All sales final.

FAQ
Still unsure? Email hello@biomelc.com.
Who is the MCSC program for?+
Licensed or certified health professionals actively working with patients who want a microbiome-centered, terrain-based approach in their practice. Experienced clinicians use it to sharpen complex case work. Earlier-career practitioners use it to build clinical structure that usually takes years to develop.
Who is it not for?+
Anyone not currently licensed, certified, or working with patients in a professional capacity. It is also not the right fit for anyone looking for plug-and-play protocols rather than a clinical framework they apply themselves.
Is the MCS-P credential a regulated or accredited clinical certification?+
No. MCS-P is a program completion credential issued by the Biome Learning Center. It reflects completion of the MCSC educational program and is not a regulated clinical certification, license, or accredited credential. Practitioners apply program content within the scope of their existing license and training.
Is this medical advice?+
No. MCSC is an educational program. Content does not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations. It is built to support your own clinical decision-making within your own scope of practice.
How is this different from BYRG?+
BYRG is a patient-level program. MCSC is professional clinical training, built for practitioners to assess, sequence, and apply a microbiome-centered framework in real practice.
Do I need to complete the modules in order?+
Yes. The curriculum is sequential, and each phase builds on the one before it.
Can I use this with patients right away?+
Yes. The 100+ clinical and client-facing tools, including intake forms, trackers, handouts, flowcharts, and intervention maps, are built for immediate use within your scope of practice.
Will I get a certificate?+
Yes. After completion, you'll receive your MCS-P program completion credential and be eligible for listing in the Biome Learning Center's searchable practitioner directory.
How long do I have access?+
Lifetime access to all core modules, guest trainings, and downloadable tools. Your Biome Pro Inner Circle membership runs 12 months and can be renewed at a discounted rate.
Are CEUs included?+
CEUs aren't currently offered for this program. Depending on your licensing board, you may be able to self-report participation for continuing education credit.
What's the refund policy?+
All sales are final due to the digital nature of the program.
